Is it the TRUTH?
Is it FAIR to all concerned?
Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
Welcome Message From President
Chris Watson

I was honoured to be asked to be President of Batemans Bay Rotary for 2020/2021. Our theme for this year is: “Rotary Opens Opportunities”

With this in mind we, as a club, have made the decision to hold fortnightly dinner meetings instead of our previous weekly ones. Alternate weeks we will get together either informally or through Zoom Meetings.

The restrictions due to COVID19 have delayed giving a date for our first Dinner Meeting for 2020/2021 but we are looking forward to this happening as soon as possible.

What a year we had in 2019/2020. Hopefully the turmoil and uncertainty will soon be behind us and we can do what we do best, which is work within our community and internationally to make a difference.

During the 2019 Bushfire emergency Rotary clubs all over Australia and internationally supported our region with financial and practical help.

An opportunity opened in Mogo for our assistance. The “Happy Hub” was established as a support centre for all affected by the bushfire crisis.

It is open to all in need and with Counsellors, or just someone to talk to, available most days of the week to support those in need. Tea, coffee and friendship is available as is access to phones and the internet as there are still some limitations in Mogo with internet and phone services.

Another opportunity saw Batemans Bay Rotary providing assistance with food, clothing, furniture and school necessities to all that needed help. We were overwhelmed with the assistance we received and the generosity of so many Australian Rotary Clubs and in fact from Clubs all over the world. It shows what a caring organisation Rotary is.

The opportunity to continue with our work internationally is again open to us. This year we will continue with projects in the Philippines. There are also other doors opening throughout the world for us to complete more exciting and worthwhile projects.

We welcome the opportunity to partner with our local Rotary clubs, Moruya and Narooma to raise money at the Annual Charities Race Day held by the Moruya Jockey Club in Moruya in December. The doors open for us to seek opportunities in our community to do good works.

The opportunity to work with our community will continue with the monthly markets hopefully from August 2020 and then with the exciting Australia Day event at Corrigan’s Beach reserve in January.

Future events will be published on our website but we will look forward to opening the door to new opportunities.

I hope you will accept the opportunity to come and join us sometime in 2020/2021 to enjoy the fellowship of Rotary. Meeting dates and venues will be available on our website once we have more certainty in group get-togethers.

I look forward to the many opportunities we have and to opening new doors during this Rotary year.

Chris Watson - PRESIDENT 2020-2021

What is Rotary?
Rotary is a worldwide organisation of ordinary people, business, professional and community leaders. Rotary Clubs are non political, no religious and open to all cultures, races and creeds. For over 110 years people around the world have been giving to humanity through Rotary.

Rotary projects are diverse and our efforts are focused on our local community as well as supporting larger regional and international needs.

The magic of Rotary is that it allows ordinary people to achieve the most extraordinary things. Through Rotary people unite to achieve exceptional change in people’s lives. Many members of Rotary have developed projects that have brought significant changes to local communities and the world.

Theme for 2020/2021

Rotary International President Holger Knaack’s theme for 2020-21, Rotary Opens Opportunities, asks Rotarians to create opportunities that strengthen their leadership, help put service ideas into action, and improve the lives of those in need.
